Reigning world champion Casey Stoner crashed late in this morning's MotoGP practice session but walked away unhurt.
The track was wet but drying but the area where Stoner crashed was especially wet. His bike threw up a nice rooster-tail of water as he accelerated from the apex, but unfortunately as he came up on the fat part of the rear tire the bike wound up and spit him off.
Stoner crashed over the front of the Ducati, landing on his chin and chest. It happened so quickly he was unable to put his arms out to brace himself for the impact--which in retrospect was a good thing, what with his injured wrist. He then rolled with the crash.
Stoner walked away from the spill but after two inspections of the bike--which appeared to be damaged in the gear shift area--he decided a scooter ride back to the paddock was the better plan.
He appeared unhurt. But was sighted in the garage later holding his wrist.
