27-year-old Appiah is a free agent after having his contract with Turkish team Fenerbahce annulled earlier in the summer, with the former Juventus midfielder being linked with a move to the Hammers along with Arsenal and a return to Serie A with Juve.
However, the resignation of West Ham manager Alan Curbishley on Wednesday has thrown any prospective switch to Upton Park in doubt, but Appiah is still hopeful something can materialise and has revealed there has been contact for him, with it being his dream to play in the Premier League.
"There are contacts, there are talks - I can't say anything yet,” he told skysports.com.
“I am not going to put people off, my agents are talking so I have nothing else to say.
“My dream is to play in the Premier League and with the help of God, I will realise that dream.”
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has yet to make his interest official, though the Frenchman did try to sign Appiah last summer, with the midfielder opting to stay with Fenerbahce after declaring himself 50% an Arsenal player.
