Visual Kei originally was merged of Visual (en) and Kei (Jp) that have one meaning, STYLE. If Punk Community came from London, then Visual Kei came from Japan.Visual Kei (ヴィジュア系 bijuaru kei) was based on J-Rock movement that popular on 1990. This move was recorded with band that use dramatic costume and visual image to take people attention.In Japan, Visual Kei fans was major of girl teenagers that publish universally in form of merchandise of the band member themselves.
Visual Kei member always use a strange dramatics street style that remembering us with 190 style and use a complicated costume.
Even the most musician is boy. Band member always use make-up and style of feminime and androgynous. And now the style was reborn with colorful image and fantastic style that popular in the past 5 years that also inspired with RPG game and anime.
Visual Kei didn't packed with any musical style. The band that use this style plays rock, hard rock like Luna Sea, Dir en Grey, Penicillin, Due’le Quartz, Plastic Tree, Gothic and Neoclassic like Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, Rentrer en Soi, D’espairs Ray and Phantasmagoria, Light Rock and Pop like L’Arc~en~Ciel, Glay, Shazna, Heavy Metal and Ballad like X Japan, Loudness, Buck- Tick, Sex Machine Gun.This movement was globally started by X Japan in 1980 that using this trend by using visual shock that take a tribute in independent music world.
